A Baby Could Paint That
When some people see an abstract art they think it’s overly simplistic, makes no sense and could easily be done by any kid.
The point is not complexity or effort or realism, how hard it is or who can or can’t do it. The point is self-expression.
Abstract art is like music. People normally don’t judge music based on how precise the words are and if the song is full of meaning. You like the song or not, you want to dance to it or not, you want to sing along or not. Many of the great songs sound simple, while making a song to sound simple is actually pretty hard to do.
It’s easy to make things hard, and hard to make things easy.
Artists don’t do pointless pictures. It gets old and boring fast. The act is based on meaning and personal value for the artist. They might have a story to tell, an experiment to make, a game to play.
